Old Fashion Homemade Banana Pudding

Vanilla Wafers 

2 sliced bananas

2 c. vanilla wafer crumbs

1 c. vanilla wafers - quartered into bite-sized chunks

3 bananas sliced and mashed into bite sized chunks

1 1/2 c. white sugar

1/4 c. all purpose flour

2 c. milk

 3 egg yolks

2 t. butter

2 t. vanilla extract

 

Line bottom and sides of pie plate with alternating vanilla wafers and sliced bananas, set aside. In medium saucepan, combine the 1 1/2 c. sugar with the flour. Mix with 1 cup of the milk. Beat the egg yolks then add to the mixture. Add the other cup of milk and butter. Cook over low heat and cook till thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add vanilla extract. Add vanilla wafer chunks and mashed bananas to the pudding, stirring them in well. While hot, pour half of mixture over bananas/wafers in pie plate. Cover top of this with 1/2 of vanilla wafer crumbs and banana slices. Pour remaining mixture on top of this. Top with vanilla wafer crumbs.
