Patriotic Punch Bowl Cake
I try to make this the night before and serve at lunch on July 4th. It takes very little time to make. It's also handy
to make for family reunions, etc, where you want to take something good but don't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.
Obviously not low-calorie.
Large Punch Bowl
1 can blueberry pie filling
strawberry (or cherry) pie filling
1 large container Cool Whip
1 pound cake (or angel food cake)
to garnish: pecans, strawberries, blueberries
Cut pound cake into chunks. Line bottom of punch
bowl with 1/2 cake. Top with 1/2 can blueberry pie filing. Top this with 1/3 container Cool Whip. Next layer, 1/2 can strawberry
pie filling. Repeat process - topping it all with Cool Whip. Garnish with optional garnished. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
